The Stray Cats – watch our rockin’ live tribute video

As you guys probably know, we are massive fans of The Stray Cats, In fact about one third of our set is made up of their songs. So here is a video of our tribute to the greatest rockabilly band ever (in our opinion). Songs include Rock This Town, Runaway Boys, Stray Cat Strut and Fishnet Stockings.

This video was shot at our 2021 gig in Hayling Island (UK).

I first heard The Stray Cats back at school in early 80s when they were on Top of the Pops with Runaway Boys. Life was never the same again.

To play in a similar band set up and perform Runaway Boys and their other songs is incredibly fulfilling and something I never thought I would ever do. Each time we reach another Stray Cat song in our live set it really makes me smile inside. It just never gets old.

Gotta say, we also love playing Nine Live by the band too. A great little bass line and very smooth. Will have to post that video soon. The other song of theirs we love playing is Hot Rod Gang. I’ll have to put a longer tribute video together once I get a video of those two songs.

We went to see The Stray Cats in London back in 2019. Here’s a video from that show of David and Lee from The Kopy Katz singing a duet with The Stray Cats live (lol).

We also play about five of Lee Rocker’s solo material too. Will have to put a tribute video of his songs together at some point.

For those who don’t know The Stray Cats, they are a rockabilly band from the USA formed back in 1979 by one of the greatest guitarists ever and vocalist Brian Setzer, double bass supremo Lee Rocker, and drummer Slim Jim Phantom. This big bang happened in the Long Island town of Massapequa, New York.

The band had a handful of hit songs in the UK, Canada, Australia and in America including Stray Cat Strut, (She's) Sexy + 17, Rock This Town and Runaway Boys. In fact, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame listed Rock This Town as one of the songs that ‘shaped rock and roll’.
